As this five-part series on accountability wraps up, I offer a three-pronged strategy for enhancing the depth of personal accountability within your organization.
The strategy aims at countering a situation which is increasingly common: workers who are capable and talented, but whose accountability is lackluster. For whatever reason, they entered adulthood without a mature commitment to being accountable.
The strategy seeks to overcome this deficiency by enlarging their accountability gradually and incrementally over a protracted period of time.
The three parts of this strategy each focus on some aspect of how we task our people and review their performance. Each part utilizes motivational techniques which are powerful tools for leaders anywhere, even if accountability is not an issue in their organization.
The strategy is simple. It's easy to implement. And it's straightforward to maintain. It can also be deployed in organizations of any size or structure.
